Pre purchase surveys/inspections
Independent yacht, launch and boat surveys (inspections) for timber and composite vessels. Clear communication and detailed reports supported by tables and images communicate the condition of vessels.
Pre purchase reports are usually also suitable for international insurance purposes.
We use visual observation, percussion (tap) testing, and electronic analysis tools to determine structural condition.

Insurance inspections
This depends on the insurer’s requirements but is likely to be either full out of water survey similar to a pre purchase inspection or a basic template condition report (in New Zealand this is for Mariner/Vero). It is important to clarify the requirements with your insurer.
See the pre purchase inspection section above for typical full out of water survey.
The template survey is usually for owners of vessels that require a condition report for New Zealand insurance renewal purposes:
- Simple succinct typed report format on a template identifying general issues with summary of condition
- Not a full survey
- Risk and safety based approach – focused on the main structural and system condition areas but also conveys general condition
- GRP (fibreglass), composite, timber, alloy, steel
- Out of water lift, clean and hold required, time required depends on vessel size – the rest can be done in the water, or alternatively the whole inspection can be done on a hardstand such as during routine out of water maintenance.
- Fast turn around, reports ready within 1-2 days
